Change the Name of Washington, DC

Even though I am a WHITE MAN and benefit from WHITE MAN'S JUSTICE, I think that it is only prudent and fair that we change the name of our nation's capital because GEORGE WASHINGTON OWNED SLAVES at MOUNT VERNON...  and that Mt Vernon be CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC as a tourist attraction...

Either we should call our NATION'S CAPITAL the District of Columbia or find another name more suitable to our BLACK CITIZENS since they are OFFENDED and rightly so of anything in AMERICA that reminds them of SLAVERY.

Of the 317 enslaved people living at Mount Vernon in 1799, a little less than half (123 individuals) were owned by George Washington himself. Another 153 slaves at Mount Vernon in 1799 were dower slaves from the Custis estate. When Martha Washington's first husband, Daniel Parke Custis, died without a will in 1757, she received a life interest in one-third of his estate, including the slaves. Neither George nor Martha Washington could free these slaves by law and upon Martha’s death these individuals reverted to the Custis estate and were divided among her grandchildren.  SOURCE:  MountVernon.org

IT IS AN EMBARASSMENT TO THIS NATION THAT GEORGE WASHINGTON OUR FIRST PRESIDENT OWNED SLAVES...  AND THAT OUR NATION'S CAPITAL IS NAMED AFTER THIS SLAVE OWNER...
