Malcolm X advocated the killing of whites to achieve racial equality.

There are FIVE times more whites than there are BLACKS and there are FIVE times more white mothers than there are black mothers...  so, critical race theory ain't gonna fly in the public school systems...  these white mothers will bitch louder than black mothers...

AND...  what good does it serve to DIVIDE OUR NATION based upon color:

WAKE UP AMERICA...

The BLM Movement Will Fade Into Black

We, as veterans, have a different approach to freedom and the importance of the American Flag.  The American Flag, like the Confederate Flag during the Civil War, was a symbol of the Confederate States and what they believed in...  and, to fly that Confederate Flag when there are no more Confederate States, is just as misleading as it is for Americans to fly a BLM flag instead of an American Flag, unless those who want to fly the BLM flag have a desire, like to Confederacy, to create their own country...  which I doubt the rest of the United States would allow them to do, especially since the rest of the United States is bending over backwards to make sure that those who are supporting BLM, are sufficiently PATRONIZED and PACIFIED.

And just like all other movements that have taken place within the continental borders of the contiguous States, BLM will fade and dissipate into the atmosphere of our previous existence.  That is to say, whatever happens right now, this moment, will only last this moment until this moment passes and it is in our past.  For instance, the wrongful and illegal death of George Floyd is now and forever more relegated to our past...  and, will remain in our past, no matter how often we try to remember it.

The events of 9/11 are now being treated the same way...  they are in our past and like everything else in our past, it is gone...  passed away...  only memories slowly fading remain.

• Vietnam is in our past
• The assassinations of JFK and MLK, Jr are in our past
• The Stock Market crash of 2008 is in our past
• Richard Nixon's resignation is in our past
• The killing of Osama bin Laden is in our past
• COVID 19 will soon be in our past

Just like all other movements, the BLM movement will continually as long as it is politically convenient for it to continue and when that stops, the movement will fade...  and, in 20 years, we will again look back into our past and retrieve the memory and the reminder that nothing really changed.

12% of the population cannot change 60% of the population for very long...  there are simply not enough votes and not enough political capital for anything like BLM to be sustainable.

REMEMBER, all the tax payer dollars that we pump into CLIMATE CHANGE will do absolutely no good at all as long as CHINA, INDIA, AFRICA, SOUTH AMERICA, the MIDDLE EAST, ASIA, and RUSSIA join in with us...  and, the last time I looked, none of those countries were planning to participate...

CLIMATE CONTROL and BLM will perish on the political vine of apathy and our inability to get the rest of the world to follow us...

WHO IS REALLY GOING TO FOLLOW BLM?  Especially after we defund the police (because of George Floyd) and realize what a frigging stupid MISTAKE that was...  especially for the blacks and other minorities because no matter how much we raise the minimum wage and force employers to pay more, these poor minority souls will not be able to relocate outside of where they are...

AND... how is the BLM movement going to stop the progress and technology and the marriage of artificial intelligence with robots?  Robots WILL REPLACE black and while workers alike and robots will be ubiquitous by the year 2030...  which is less than 9 years away...  only 2.5 Presidential terms away...

Can BLM matter hold on for 9 more years???

Fighting Back

In the previous two elections, 2016 and again in 2020, those of us who still care about out country, saw a DIVIDED US...  and as the LEFT pushed the RIGHT with:

• BLM
• ANTIFA
• Cancel Culture
• WOKE Mob
• Censoring conservatives
• Critical Race Theory
• Defund the Police

the RiGHT has started pushing back and have been standing up to those who are trying to change this country to more reflect that which ONLY THEY BELIEVE..

Perhaps the LEFT did not expect the RIGHT to push back but we have and will continue to PUSH BACK until the LEFT decides to BACK OFF...

It may take several years for a new compromise to take place and if that is the case, sobeit.

The rest of the world, doesn't give a shit about our internal conflicts just as we don't give a shit about their internal conflicts...  with the only difference being that those other powers like:

• China
• Russia
• North Korea
• Iran/Iraa
• Middle East

want to see all citizens of the USA DEAD...  or, under their control.

UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES of that which is happening here now will, in the next few years, turn our country upside down and it will no longer be the great couintry that it once was...

Interestingly, I believe what cause this change to take place was actually two things:

FIRST - our Democratic Republic Form of Government

SECOND - our First Amendment Rights

Money... money, money, money...

 gimme more money...

i simple like the idea of our federal government giving us money...  I like the stimulus checks...  I like the increase in unemployment insurance...  and, I like the idea that so much money has been given to education so that they can refurbish the buildings and give the teachers more money.

I also believe that the quality of education will increase as well because the teachers are making more money.  but, if the quality of education does not increase, then i would say that the future of america is in deep shit because the rest of the world is improving their education so that they can our educational superiors finally...  after so many years of kissing our asses because we had the best education...

But...  let's put that aside for the moment and make sure all our black residents have a chance to become superior to whites  because for hundreds of years they have been suppressed and not allowed to do much more than commit crimes and sell drugs...

Critical race theory is important so that whites will get their heads out of their asses and start giving blacks the opportunity to be successful.  We can no longer see ourselves as americans...  we must now see ourselves as white or as blacks or as brown or as asian or as italian, or as french, or as british or as canandian...  america has lost the cultural wars and whites will no longer lead us and tell the other races what to do and when to do it...

blacks will cancel everything that is white until there is not such thing as white in america...  then, our country will be great again because no race of people is being suppressed.

what a great day this will be for everyone...  but, in the meantime, give us more money...  more money...  more money...

Stay WOKE

Woke (/ˈwoʊk/ WOHK) is a term that refers to awareness of issues that concern social justice and racial justice. It is sometimes used in the African-American Vernacular English expression stay woke. Woke resurfaced in 2014, during the Black Lives Matter movement, as a label for vigilance and activism concerning racial inequalities and other social disparities such as discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community, women, immigrants and other marginalized populations.

Woke has also been the subject of memes, ironic usage and criticism.

I am NOT WOKE and I hope that I never BECOME WOKE according to the above definition of WOKE...

If I don't like something or don't approve of something, I damn sure ain't going to accept it because I am now a WOKE SOB.

I don't give a damn about black inequalities, but I do give a damn about the inequalities that IMPACT EVERYONE...  and, I do understand that blacks still feel oppressed but that does not mean everyone should be WOKE...

I will defend the RIGHTS of ALL AMERICANS...

I want equality and equity for ALL AMERICANS...

I am against income disparity and low wages...

If people want to be part of the LGBTQ+ movement then they should have the right to do so...  but, just because I don't approve of the LGBTQ+ movement does not mean I should be FORCED TO SUPPORT IT...  that flies in the face of my FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS.

I really don't care who you may want to take to your bed...  that is your business and will always be exclusively your businesses...  BUT IT IS NOT MY BUSINESS...  and, will never be my business...  nor is MY BUSINESS any of YOUR BUSINESS...

Be WOKE as often as you desire but DON'T TELL ME WHAT I SHOULD BE because you want me to be that way...  FU is my response and will always be my response.

Prison Guaranteed for Chauvin

If you are any kind of aware citizen, then you know that the trail of Derek Chauvin is almost over and the jury will be deliberating their verdict.  Chauvin is the ex police officer who killed George Floyd on a city street by pressing his knee against his neck.  Chauvin clearly displayed characteristics of a racist...

But, while the trial might have been FAIR...  it is my opinion that the VERDICT will NOT BE FAIR...  in the sense of  EVIDENCE PROVIDED and/or PROVED beyond a RESONABLE DOUBT...  This part is completely insignificant.

IF THE JURY DOES FIND CHAUVIN GUILTY OF SOME KIND OF SERIOUS CHARGE...   then not only will the black community revolt, riot, burn, and loot but the whole country will do so as well...  as they voice their displeasure with WHITE MAN'S JUSTICE...

The BLACK will REVOLT and RIOT for weeks...  perhaps months...  and BLM and ANTIFA will join in and encourage the protests in the hopes that more whites will be removed from office and more police department will be defunded...  so that BLACKS will be able to freely roam our city streets and do any damn thing they want to do to anybody...

Am I a RACIST?

I don't think so... because I don't really care whether the blacks get what they want or not...  it just does not matter to me...  NOR DO I CARE ABOUT THE WHITES either...  whatever happens to them is brought about because of their actions, words, and behaviors.

My retirement status will not change at all...

My body will still have cancer and my heart will still have to deal with its disease as well...

Life will continue and my wife and I will continue to vacation at places where there is not rioting, burning, and/or looting going on...  especially since blacks cannot be everywhere.  It is simply not that easy to have a BITCH FIT in the south...  Too many gun owners and the police take no shit off of anyone...

It's not just race that I don't care about anymore, but I don't care about law enforcement either...  and mainly because these cops are typically "power hungry" because they are trying to enforce the laws...  Most have military aggressive backgrounds.  And, they like to make sure that everyone knows that they have power, especially motorists.

There are many more people than cops and so it would be easy to make the cops back off if we formed crowds...

COVID: The China Virus and BLM

Being a senior citizen and in my 70's living off of Social Security and what little savings I have had an opportunity to amass, I am literally FIGHTENED by this Pandemic, more than being around a ton of blacks in a shopping mall or walking around the streets of Atlanta after dark...   it is frightening when a white man has found himself too old to protect he and his family against racial brutality against the whites because some whites have brutalized and/or killed blacks...

It is a frightening time in America and no politician will be able to silence the HATRED that lies in the HEARTS OF MAN...

And, this makes COVID even more of a nightmare...  at least for someone like me.

Because I have two cancers and have been undergoing cancer treatment since 2008, I find myself being particularly vulnerable not just to angry blacks but to any disease that might be floating around even the flu.

I stay at home as much as I can, only leaving the house for doctor's appointments and cancer treatments but nothing really else except back in the summer we visited malls and restaurants wearing face masks even though a majority of the people in Knoxville did not.

I remember quite vividly going into a mall and being followed (or so it seemed to me) by blacks in their early 20's wearing baggy shirts, baseball caps turned around backwards, and pants tied below their butts, shuffling when they walked...  and, they always seemed to be staring directly at us as if they resented us being in their mall or something...

In restaurants, I remember a black couple saying that they did not want to sit next to us even though there was a table vacant in between due to COVID requirements.  Their eyes were hateful and full of contempt in the way they looked at us...  that is to say my wife and I.

Since the COVID VIRUS is on the increase, I have been reluctant to venture outside at all unless I absolutely have to...  I don't even go to the gym anymore to exercise for my heart condition.

It seems like BLM and COVID have intermingled...  joined together like a marriage or something.

White Man's Justice

White Man's Justice is a term used in the United States of
America by Native Americans and by African Americans who also want to be referred to a Blacks and/or People of Color (which in my opinion is not a whole hell of a lot different than the term colored people used in the 1950's).  But, what I find most peculiar about this phrase is not how it is used but the fact that it is used at all to describe cultural differences in the United States of America when the FACT OF THE MATTER IS that we are all AMERICANS...  and, while it may seem to a minority group of people that JUSTICE in America belongs to the white man and not to EVERYONE as it should...   I AM A WHITE PERSON and I too feel that there is something wrong with our JUSTICE SYSTEM but not because it is based upon the fact that Caucasians represent the most populated of America's ethnic groups but because JUSTICE IN AMERICA CATERS TO THE WEALTHY...

Whenever I see WHITE MAN'S JUSTICE being used, I immediately think that these people are not just racists themselves but are perpetuating racists sentiments in the hopes of CREATING MORE RACISTS in this country to FIGHT the racists that we already have...  and, more importantly, movements like:

• Black Lives Matter
• White Supremacists
• ANTIFA

simply make the situation worse and the more that our government gives the Blacks now the more the WHITES in this country will RESENT our government for doing it and the BLACKS for receiving it...  exacerbating racism on both sides...  the result is that both sides lose and hatred among the races will continue until one day it explodes...

Where Do Most Blacks Live?

In July 2017, 41.4 million people in the United States were black alone, which represents 12.7 percent of the total population. African Americans are the second largest minority population, following the Hispanic/Latino population. The states with the largest black population in 2017 were:

1. Texas,
2. Georgia
3. Florida
4. New York
5. North Carolina
6. California
7. Illinois
8. Maryland 
9. Virginia
10. Louisiana

Combined, these 10 states represent 58% of the total black population.

Have you noticed that there is very little BLM/ANTIFA Movements VIOLENCE in:

• Texas
• Georgia
• Florida
• North Carolina
• Virginia
• Louisiana

Are these BLACKS different than those in other parts of the United States, I wonder?

Of the 10 states where a majority of the BLACK POPULATION LIVES...  only New York, California, Illinois, and Maryland is where a lot of the violence is taking place and where the blacks are DEMANDING that police departments be DEFUNDED so that no more blacks will be killed by WHITE POLICEMEN...

LOGICALLY, defunding police departments to stop white violence does not make a whole hell of a lot of sense, but what the hell...  what do I know...  I'm just a 73 year old WHITE CRACKER living in East Tennessee.

MY SILLY QUESTION IS:  when police departments are truly defunded and their resources are redistributed to black social programs...  what happens to the other blacks in urban communities when they are in need of police protection because of crime, drugs, rape, and other violence?

The Black Lives Matter Movement

The call for Black lives to matter is a rallying cry for ALL Black lives striving for liberation.

As a WHITE MAN, this is what I see.

• Blacks have been marginalized
• Blacks have been targeted for demise
• Blacks continue to face oppression
• Black are striving for liberation

Marginalized means being treated as being insignificant...

Demise means a person's death...

Oppression means prolonged cruel or unjust treatment or control...

Liberation means the act of setting someone free from prison or slavery...

I would have to say even though I risk being wrong that ALL POOR  PEOPLE and most laborers whether white, black, Asian, or Hispanic have been and will continue to be marginalized by the upper middle class and wealthy class here in AMERICA.  Now perhaps it is true that some are marginalized more than others, but I am white and have been marginalized all my life in the workplace.

No body wants anyone to die unless one is in a war zone and facing the enemy.  People get killed indirectly and directly but it is not always intentional and usually grows from an escalation of anger or anxiety or fear.  I would have to save that blacks are more likely to kill whites and whites are more likely to kill blacks simply because we have an unhealthy fear of each other.

If Blacks feel oppressed then why don't they ask about the white workers in the textile mills in the south or in the coal mines or in the furniture industry or in the small manufacturing industries where the white female workers are at the mercy of the white male technicians who can either help them or prevent them from reaching daily production.  I would think those whites are oppressed as well and feel that they are stuck in jobs from which they can only extract themselves with DEATH.

As far as liberation is concerned...  what do BLACKS want to be liberated from?  Blacks are not in prison even though some are and there is no longer slavery in this country.  The US has more freedoms and individual liberties than any other country in the world and there are many Blacks who have managed to become quite successful, like:

I would ask these questions:  

Why have they been successful and you have not?

Weren't they just as marginalized and oppressed as you?

Antifa is an anti-fascist action and left-wing political movement in the United States comprising an array of autonomous groups and individuals that aim to achieve their objectives through the use of both nonviolent and violent direct action rather than through policy reform. 

A highly decentralized movement, antifa political activists are anti-racists who engage in protest tactics, seeking to combat fascists and racists such as neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other far-right extremists.This may involve digital activism, harassment, physical violence, and property damage against those whom they identify as belonging to the far right. 

Much of antifa's activism is nonviolent, involving poster and flyer campaigns, delivering speeches, marching in protest, and community organizing on behalf of anti-racist and anti-white nationalist causes.

The Black Lives Matter Movement has brought ANTIFA to the forefront and was mainly used by the left in a attempt to OUST President Trump from office and one could say that in part it must have worked because Trump lost the election.  However, neither BLM or ANTIFA will disappear from the forefront now that Biden is President and there is a good possibility that these two groups will put PRESSURE on the new administration to make some RADICAL changes as to the standing of Blacks or People of Color in our Society and while they only represent 13% the current population, their noise is bound to get them more recognition.

The problem with causes like this is that the population of the United States is largely still WHITE and they will not lay down on the ground and easily give up all the WANTS that the Blacks are demanding...  and DEMANDING is the right word...  DEMANDS are never met with open arms and the bigger the ASK the greater will be the RESISTENCE...  not from politicians but from the GENERAL PUBLIC.

No Longer Shall We Bow To The Caucasian

But, with the freeing of slaves by Abraham Lincoln to fight against the South in the Civil War, the Black man or African American or Person of Color has never really been free at all as the AMERICAN SYSTEM has been carefully designed and orchestrated to FAVOR the White Man or the Caucasian in all its dealings but mainly in its dealings regarding status and wealth.

Yes...  it is entirely true that there are POOR WHITES as well who have no opportunities in this great land, but when it comes to choice, poor whites will be selected over the well-to-do black man every time and that prejudice MUST STOP...  and, it must stop NOW...  or the white race be damned and condemned to hell for all the sins they have committed on their black brothers...

GOD CREATED US ALL EQUAL yet in 2020 we sill remain unequal in all that is around...  and, this is not mere speculation but fact my friends.

COMMENT:  Our country is changing and changing rapidly as the LIBERALS write their own agendas as they trample down the rights and wills of others in the process of receiving all their wants, desires, and needs at the expense of the wealthy...  I know not what will happen when the wealthy REFUSE TO PAY or when our DEBTORS ask for their money back.  What will then become of our country that now belongs to THEM...

America will be GONE and not just because the LIBERALS are in control but because the rest of us allowed it to happened quite gradually and we were apathetic because we were only self-concerning then.

The future is no longer America's to lose but it is China's to gain and we let it happen as we FOUGHT FOR EQUALITY knowing damn good and well that EQUALITY SHALL NEVER BE other than in birth and in death as it has always been intended...  EQUALITY exists only in Heaven and was never meant for EARTH...

Civil Liberties For ALL or NONE

Civil liberties are guarantees and freedoms that liberal governments commit not to abridge, either by legislation or judicial interpretation, and without due process of the laws governing these civil liberties.

Civil liberties may include the:

1. freedom of conscience, 
2. freedom of press, 
3. freedom of religion, 
4. freedom of expression, 
5. freedom of assembly, 
6. right to security
7. liberty, freedom of speech, 
8. right to privacy, 
9. right to equal treatment under the law 
10. due process of the law,
11.  the right to a fair trial, and 
12. right to life. 

Other civil liberties include the 

• right to own property, 
• right to defend oneself, and 
• right to bodily integrity.

Because of what is happening in this country perpetrated by those who DO NOT LIKE President Trump, many of my civil liberties are being IGNORED...

As a conservative, I have the civil liberties of:

• expression
• speech
• conscience
• security
• assembly

However, in some of the cities that are controlled by DEMOCRATS, these freedoms are being DENIED...

Especially so, when it comes to my security and the security of those with similar thoughts...  we are not being protected from violence being perpetrated against us whenever we assemble peacefully.  In fact, there are movements underway to defund the police which would further exacerbate the violation of my civil liberties...  those of security, assembly, and expression...

Have we turned into a country where the only civil liberties that are being protected as those that are being expressed by Liberals and those persons who are promoting BLACK LIVES MATTER...

This country CANNOT protect the CIVIL LIBERTIES of BLM while ignoring the CIVIL LIBERTIES of those who are not involved in or with the movement.

ALL CIVIL LIBERTIES MUST BE PROTECTED OR THERE WILL BE A CIVIL LIBERTIES WAR BETWEEN THOSE SEGMENTS OF THE POPULATION WHO STAND ON EITHER SIDE OF THE CIVIL LIBERTIES ISSUES...

Harris praised the 'brilliance' and 'impact' of Black Lives Matter

Peaceful protests against racial injustice are critical for the nation's progress and help to keep law enforcement in check, Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., said Friday.

"Nothing that we have achieved that has been about progress, in particular around civil rights, has come without a fight, and so I always am going to interpret these protests as an essential component of evolution in our country -- as an essential component or mark of a real democracy," the vice presidential nominee said during the NAACP's national convention.

She added that protests were "necessary" as "the people's voices must be heard, and it is often the people who must speak to get their government to do what it is supposed to do, but may not do naturally unless the people speak loudly -- and obviously peacefully."

Harris also praised the "brilliance" and "impact" of "Black Lives Matter," which has received media praise but also come under fire for promoting left-wing stances like opposing the nuclear family. Thomas Sowell (/soʊl/; born June 30, 1930) is an American economist and social theorist who is currently a senior fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution.

Sowell was born in North Carolina but grew up in Harlem, New York. He dropped out of Stuyvesant High School and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He received a bachelor's degree, graduating magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1958 and a master's degree from Columbia University in 1959. In 1968, he earned his doctorate in economics from the University of Chicago.

Sowell has served on the faculties of several universities, including Cornell University and University of California, Los Angeles. He has also worked for think tanks such as the Urban Institute. Since 1980, he has worked at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. He writes from a libertarian conservative perspective. Sowell has written more than thirty books (a number of which have been reprinted in revised editions), and his work has been widely anthologized. He is a National Humanities Medal recipient for innovative scholarship which incorporated history, economics and political science. Does anyone really believe any of that crap?

While that question above may sound like I am apprehensive, negative, or at best sarcastic let me follow it up with another question:  Why do we get abortions if LIVES MATTER?

What bothers me more about the BLM movement is the fact that it is predicated upon several white law enforcement personnel inappropriately taking the lives of several black American Citizens because of their biased racial beliefs.

First of all, NOT ALL WHITES feel the same way and yet ALL WHITES ARE BLAMED just like ALL WHITES ARE BLAMED FOR SLAVERY...

Here is another example of why it is difficult for me to believe any of this crap and for this item I return your attention to OJ SIMPSON and his murder trial of 1995 where he was accused of KILLING TWO WHITES...

The O. J. Simpson murder case (officially People of the State of California v. Orenthal James Simpson) was a criminal trial held in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Former National Football League (NFL) player, broadcaster and actor O. J. Simpson was tried and acquitted on two counts of murder for the June 12, 1994, slashing deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman. At 12:10 a.m. on June 13, 1994, Brown and Goldman were found stabbed to death outside her condominium in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles. Simpson became a person of interest after police found a bloody glove behind his house and was formally charged with the murders on June 17. When he did not turn himself in at the agreed time (having previously been released after perfunctory questioning by police detectives), he became the object of a low-speed pursuit in a white 1993 Ford Bronco SUV owned and driven by his friend Al Cowlings. TV stations interrupted coverage of the 1994 NBA Finals to broadcast the incident. If I recall correctly, numerous blacks CHEERED IN THE STREETS when they heard the verdict being announced...

AND...  what did WHITES do???

They bitched, pissed, and moaned BUT THEY DID NOT start rioting, looting, and burning cities.

The more that BLM, ANTIFA, and all those that are supporting the rioting, looting, and burning, continue to riot, loot, and burn, the more Americans are going to turn away from Democratic Politics and move towards Republican Politics for the sole purpose of STOPPING THE RIOTING, LOOTING, and BURNING.

Mothers want their children to live and be raised in safe environments...

BUT, equally as important are the facts that...

1.  families are leaving those cities

2.  businesses are leaving those cities

3.  entrepreneurs are leaving those cities

4.  revenues from taxes will decline

5.  local governments will be forced to cut back on services, like:

Fire Protection

Police Protection

Healthcare

Garbage Service

Education

Street Maintenance

Parks & Recreation

I Have a Dream Speech by Martin Luther King, Jr.
delivered 28 August 1963, at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington D.C.

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.

Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.

But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. And so we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

In a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds."

But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so, we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.

We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of Now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.

It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. And those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. And there will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.

The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.

We cannot walk alone.

And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead.

We cannot turn back.

There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their self-hood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating: "For Whites Only." We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until "justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream."

I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. And some of you have come from areas where your quest -- quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive. Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed.

Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.

And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification" -- one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together."2

This is our hope, and this is the faith that I go back to the South with.

With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

And this will be the day -- this will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning:

My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim's pride, From every mountainside, let freedom ring!

And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.

And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.

Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.

Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.

Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.

But not only that:

Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.

From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

And when this happens, and when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:

Free at last! Free at last!
Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!
