Gods as Extraterrestrials

Despite the impression one gets from textbooks, our current knowledge of the universe represents a small island in a vast ocean of ignorance. The scientific enterprise is all about expanding the landmass of this island. And it is fun to engage in the activity of gaining knowledge; knowing everything in advance would have been much more boring. Still, it would be shocking to learn all at once of the discoveries of an alien civilization that been doing scientific and technological exploration for billions of years, in contrast to our mere few centuries.

The eminent science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke codified this idea in the third of his three laws : “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” Put another way, members of such a civilization would appear to us as a pretty good approximation to God.

Meeting a piece of advanced technological equipment developed by an extraterrestrial intelligence might resemble an imaginary encounter of ancient cave people with a modern cell phone. At first, they would interpret it as a shiny rock, not recognizing it as a communication device. The same thing might have happened in reaction to the first detection of an interstellar visitor to the solar system, ‘Oumuamua, which showed six peculiar properties but was nevertheless interpreted as a rock by mainstream astronomers. So...  what does that say about our own religious beliefs in Christianity?  Is our Father/Creator an Ancient Alien and more importantly was Jesus an extraterrestrial?

If one were to compare all the mythologies of the world to the stories contained in THE BIBLE, one would see similarities among all these stories.  There is a great flood in all these mythologies.  There is a Creator in all these mythologies.  There is a savior in all these mythologies with a death and resurrection story.

Additionally, if one were to look at all the various ancient architectural structures all over the world one we see the connection that when these structures were created, the people of that time did not have the technical abilities to construct such structures...  leaving one to question how were they all built?

It is fitting that we think about things like this on a Sunday...  our day of faith and spiritual education, gathering with those who believe like us to share companionship and reinforce each other's beliefs.

CHINA: First Contact

Last january, the Chinese Academy of Sciences invited Liu Cixin, China’s preeminent science-fiction writer, to visit its new state-of-the-art radio dish in the country’s southwest. Almost twice as wide as the dish at America’s Arecibo Observatory, in the Puerto Rican jungle, the new Chinese dish is the largest in the world, if not the universe. Though it is sensitive enough to detect spy satellites even when they’re not broadcasting, its main uses will be scientific, including an unusual one: The dish is Earth’s first flagship observatory custom-built to listen for a message from an extraterrestrial intelligence. If such a sign comes down from the heavens during the next decade, China may well hear it first.

In some ways, it’s no surprise that Liu was invited to see the dish. He has an outsize voice on cosmic affairs in China, and the government’s aerospace agency sometimes asks him to consult on science missions. Liu is the patriarch of the country’s science-fiction scene. Other Chinese writers I met attached the honorific Da, meaning “Big,” to his surname. Pseudoarchaeology and the Racism Behind Ancient Aliens
Where, exactly, the idea of ancient aliens building the pyramids began — and why some academics think racism lies at the heart of many extraterrestrial theories.

At the ancient site of Hatnub, a quarry in the eastern Egyptian desert not far from Faiyum, archaeologists have recently discovered a sled ramp system used to transport alabaster blocks. Post holes and a ramp with stairs on either side indicate that the contraption allowed Egyptian builders to move heavy blocks up and down steep slopes. Inscriptions have now helped archaeologists from the Institut français d’archéologie orientale and the University of Liverpool to date this groundbreaking technology to at least the reign of Khufu, who ruled from 2589–2566 BCE. 

Khufu is known as the pharaoh who likely commissioned the building of the Great Pyramid at Giza. Discovery and reconstruction of the ramp allows us to better understand ancient construction techniques. It also chips away at the long-held but fringe theory that the blocks were so heavy and the distances they would have to travel so lengthy that aliens must have built the pyramids.

Where did the theory of aliens building the pyramids actually come from? Since the late 19th century, science fiction writers have imagined Martians and other alien lifeforms engaged in great feats of terrestrial engineering. Earlier alien theories surrounding Atlantis may have spawned fantasies about alien building. The most substantial evidence for non-earthly creatures arrived in the wake of H.G. Wells’s success.

Capitalizing on the fervor surrounding Wells’s The War of the Worlds, astronomer and science fiction writer Garrett P. Serviss penned a quasi-sequel titled Edison’s Conquest of Mars in 1898. Serviss posited that “giants of Mars” had moved large blocks and built the Great Pyramid. He even noted that the Sphinx had Martian features. Edison’s Conquest was part of a number of science fiction works published as books or serialized in newspapers in the late 19th century which imagined alien invasions fought off by great inventors of the time. COMMENT:

Most scientists have a difficult time accepting the concept that Ancient Aliens visited our planet and may have influenced life on our planet in some unexplained way...  Scientists deal with FACTS and ABSOOUTES based upon those facts...  they do not deal with suppositions...  that is to say...  unless your science falls into the area of the THEORETICAL...   then, damn near anything is possible.

And, it appears that this is where we are at the moment...  Science explains the building of the pyramids and therefore science must be right or correct in their assumptions.  but, theoretical physicists take off in a different direction and can make claims that this or that might be possible, even though their hypothesis has yet to be proven.

Those who claim Ancient Aliens visited earth are similar to theoretical physicists in that their hypothesis has yet to be proven.

Chariot of the Gods

Chariots of the Gods is a book written in 1968 by Erich von Däniken and translated from the original German by Michael Heron. It involves the hypothesis that the technologies and religions of many ancient civilizations were given to them by ancient astronauts who were welcomed as gods.

Chariots of the Gods posits a variety of hypotheses dealing with the possibility of extraterrestrial beings influencing ancient technology. Von Däniken suggests that some ancient structures and artifacts appear to represent higher technological knowledge than is presumed to have existed at the times they were manufactured. Von Däniken maintains that these artifacts were produced either by extraterrestrial visitors or by humans who learned the necessary knowledge from them.

Such artifacts include the Egyptian pyramids, Stonehenge, and the Moai of Easter Island.   Further examples include a medieval map known as the Piri Reis Map, which von Däniken describes as showing the Earth as it is seen from space, and the Nazca lines in Peru, which he suggests may have been constructed by humans as crude replicas of previous alien structures, as a way to call the aliens back to Earth.   He uses this same explanation to argue that cart-ruts in Malta may have had extraterrestrial purposes along with similar lines in Australia, Saudi Arabia, and the Aral Sea.

The book also suggests that ancient artwork throughout the world could be interpreted as depicting astronauts, air and space vehicles, extraterrestrials, and complex technology. Von Däniken describes elements that he believes are similar in art of unrelated cultures.   Some artwork that von Däniken cites include the ancient Japanese Dogū figurines (which he believed to resemble astronauts in space suits) and 3,000 year-old carvings in the Egyptian New Kingdom Temple that appear to depict helicopter-like machines.

The book goes on to suggest that the origins of religions, including interpretations of the Old Testament of the Bible, are reactions to contact with an alien race. According to von Däniken, humans considered the technology of the aliens to be supernatural and the aliens themselves to be gods. Von Däniken asks if the oral and literal traditions of most religions contain references to visitors from stars and vehicles traveling through air and space. These, he says, should be interpreted as literal descriptions which have changed during the passage of time and become more obscure.

Examples include Ezekiel's vision of the angels and the wheels, which Von Däniken interprets as a description of a spacecraft, the Ark of the Covenant, which is explained as a communication device with an alien race, and the destruction of Sodom by fire and brimstone, which is interpreted as a nuclear explosion.   Von Däniken attempts to draw an analogy with the "cargo cults" that formed during and after World War II, when once-isolated tribes in the South Pacific mistook the advanced American and Japanese soldiers for gods.

Von Däniken also spends around one-third of the book discussing the possibility that humans could theoretically offer primitive civilizations on interstellar worlds advanced technology by the year 2100. This would, he writes, mimic the ancient extraterrestrial contact von Däniken believed to have happened on Earth.  SOURCE:  Wikipedia

I find it very interesting that this book was published in 1968...  53 years ago...  a half century...  and, the world is still interested in and captivated by Ancient Aliens...

I purchased this book in 1970 and after reading it completely, my interest in ANCIENT ALIENS was absolute...  there was no doubts in my mind at all...   and, I was surprised that intelligent people, including our political leaders tried to keep this information away from the general public.

Do I believe that President Kennedy was killed because he was a Catholic?             YES


Do I believe the wars in the Middle East were started to boost our economy?           YES


Do I believe the DEMOCRATS are using COVID-19 to defeat Trump in November?              YES


Ever since Candidate Trump defeated Candidate Hillary 2016, the entire DEMOCRATIC PARTY along with the mainstream media has been on a mission to DESTROY President Trump which was evident by the Mueller Report that essentially did not find enough evidence to remove Trump from office...  but, when the phone call with Ukraine surface, the Democratic Controlled House of Representatives with a party majority voted to IMPEACH President Trump but the Republican controlled SENATE with a party majority voted not to IMPEACH...

SO, it is not unreasonable to think that the DEMOCRATS are using COVID-19 and Stay-at-Home Orders to keep the ECONOMY CLOSED and SHUT DOWN as long as they can in the hopes that a destroyed economy will be blamed on President Trump, resulting in his legal removal from office in November by having the vote to become the US President favoring JOE BIDEN...
