This morning I was relaxing in my hot tub when a single engine airplane past overhead and it was only a second or two that I was able to gaze upward at its flight path before it had passed out of my line of vision and sight. And, this got me to thinking...
As an airplane flies by us in the sky and we trace its movements with our eyes, the airplane seems to passing us by quickly from our fixed position on the ground.
Whereas, if we were in that airplane and looking at our fixed position on the ground, it would appear that we would be passing that fixed position rather slowly.
And, if you have never been in an airplane sitting at a window seat, you would have never noticed this phenomenon but I have.
It is also interesting to note here that astronauts who spend time in space age less than their counterparts on the ground... and, this has been proven by the growth of male beards when we were very first exploring space and were only making a few orbits around the earth.
Using this knowledge, we can extrapolate that the farther we move out into space relative to earth, the slower that time moves, even though for those out in space time seems to be moving at the same speed.
An illustration of this is a bicycle wheel (see below)...
If we imagine that the inner spoke to be indicative of earth, then it is easier to imagine that it makes more revolutions than the actual tire makes... we can estimate this ratio to be just about anything that we want it to be... for example, every time the outside tire makes one complete revolution, the inside spoke makes 20, 25, or even 30 revolutions...
And if, we said each revolution of the the inner spoke represented 10 years of earth time, then 200 years on earth would have to pass would have to pass before 1 year of time had passed for the tire... even though time was passing at the same speed for both the inner spoke and the outer tire...
This concept (proven to the true by science) is based upon Einstein's Theory of Relativity... only he used a train passing by a station as his example instead of an airplane.
Einstein's Theory of Relativity works extremely well with RELIGION also.... in that, if God was at the edge of the universe, a day to HIM could have been 100,000,000 years (or more) relative to earth's passing of time.
