Robotic Process Automation

Robotic Process Automation
is the technology that allows anyone today to configure computer software, or a “robot” to emulate and integrate the actions of a human interacting within digital systems to execute a business process. RPA robots utilize the user interface to capture data and manipulate applications just like humans do. They interpret, trigger responses and communicate with other systems in order to perform on a vast variety of repetitive tasks. Only substantially better: an RPA software robot never sleeps and makes zero mistakes.

In contrast to other, traditional IT solutions, RPA allows organizations to automate at a fraction of the cost and time previously encountered. RPA is also non-intrusive in nature and leverages the existing infrastructure without causing disruption to underlying systems, which would be difficult and costly to replace. With RPA, cost efficiency and compliance are no longer an operating cost but a byproduct of the automation.

RPA robots are capable of mimicking many–if not all–human user actions. They log into applications, move files and folders, copy and paste data, fill in forms, extract structured and semi-structured data from documents, scrape browsers, and more.  SOURCE:  UiPath.com

Robotic Process Automation will REPLACE HUMAN WORKERS and this technology is right around the corner from happening all the time.  There will be a few companies, early in its evolution that adopt it early and the bugs are being worked out...  but, before long it will be a way of life and HUMAN WORKERS WILL BE REPLACED...

Technology is good for those who create and produce the technology outputs but it is not good for the workers who lose their jobs.

Illegal Immigration

ðŸ”Š Hear ye...  hear ye...  hear ye...

We have a problem on our Southern Border in the form of illegal immigration and the Biden Administration seems to be encouraging the problem and it is unclear why there is such a desire to have the USA flooded with illegal immigration.

Illegal Immigration could be bringing in COVID and if so would then draw down on our medical supplies...

Illegal Immigration will be taking away jobs from Americans because they will work for less wages than Americans...

Illegal Immigration will require support from the government and will likely vote Democratic once they are allowed to vote...

AMERICA...  you must make the decision if you want illegal immigration or not...  and, the reason that it is your choice is because our POLITICIANS are claiming that their actions is what the PUBLIC WANTS...  If this is what YOU WANT then you must suffer the consequences when it goes wrong...  if this is not what you want, then you need to let your politicians know because they are not that smart and cannot read your mind....  even though they think that they can...

WAKE UP AMERICA...

Law Enforcement

I live in a small town in East TN and for the most part, it is more of a rural area than an urban area where most people live in communities with an acre of land...  In our community, most of the people stay indoors especially during the warm days and month and farm out the task of mowing and landscaping to a third party...  this area is NOT FLAT but hilly and curvy and provides perfect areas for law enforcement to hide their vehicles in the hopes of CATCHING speeders...   and, I wonder why law enforcement feels the need to HIDE in order to enforce the law.

It is because of this LAW ENFORCEMENT DECEPTION that I am a supporter of DEFUND THE POLICE...  however, I am not sure if I am a supporter of redirecting those monies of helping BLACKS have a better life...  A better life comes when one has an internal desire to have a better life.

FOR EXAMPLE:  when I left high school, I did not want to go to college but I did because my parents pushed me in that direction.  A few years later, I flunked out of college and enlisted in the military.  It did not take me long to realize that being in the military was not where I wanted to be.  I received an EARLY OUT to return to college and using the GI BILL, was able to not only finish my BA degree but attain an MBA as well.

I decided my future, not my parents.
I decided my future, not my environment.
I decided my future, not my peers.
I decided my future, I rejected white privilege.

BUT...
law enforcement is out of control and needs to be curtailed.  Americans, regardless of race and color, have the fundamental right to BREAK THE LAW if they want to and law enforcement should not be used to keep them from exercising that fundamental right.  If exercising our fundamental right hurts or impacts others in some adverse way, LET THEM HIRE A LAWYER...

We have the NATIONAL GUARD and we DO NOT NEED law enforcement to tell us what we can or cannot do, nor do we need law enforcement HIDING in order to enforce the law...  We have a right to PRIVACY.

INDIA: Increase in COVID Cases

After reporting a significant drop in the number of Covid-19 cases for months, some Indian states have seen a sharp uptick in infections in February. The BBC's Vikas Pandey and Soutik Biswas report.

In early February, physicians in Amravati district, some 700km (435 miles) from India's commercial capital, Mumbai, noticed a sudden surge in the number of people suffering from Covid-19.

Life in this cotton-growing district in the western state of Maharashtra had almost returned to normal after the first wave of infections last summer. The ICUs of the 1,600-bed state-run hospital and half-a-dozen private hospitals were nearly empty.

"But everything changed in February," says Anil Jadhav, a local journalist. "And now there's panic in the district."

Since the beginning of February, Amravati has recorded more than 10,000 cases and over 66 deaths from Covid. More than 1,000 were receiving treatment for the disease this week. The positivity rate is in frightful double digits. Amravati and a few other districts in Maharashtra have been again locked down.

The hotspots in a district of 2.5 million people are mainly congested urban areas, say locals.  SOURCE:  BBC

Blockchain

What is Blockchain?
Blockchain seems complicated, and it definitely can be, but its core concept is really quite simple. A blockchain is a type of database. To be able to understand blockchain, it helps to first understand what a database actually is.

A database is a collection of information that is stored electronically on a computer system. Information, or data, in databases is typically structured in table format to allow for easier searching and filtering for specific information. What is the difference between someone using a spreadsheet to store information rather than a database?

Spreadsheets are designed for one person, or a small group of people, to store and access limited amounts of information. In contrast, a database is designed to house significantly larger amounts of information that can be accessed, filtered, and manipulated quickly and easily by any number of users at once.

Large databases achieve this by housing data on servers that are made of powerful computers. These servers can sometimes be built using hundreds or thousands of computers in order to have the computational power and storage capacity necessary for many users to access the database simultaneously. While a spreadsheet or database may be accessible to any number of people, it is often owned by a business and managed by an appointed individual that has complete control over how it works and the data within it.

Storage Structure
One key difference between a typical database and a blockchain is the way the data is structured. A blockchain collects information together in groups, also known as blocks, that hold sets of information. Blocks have certain storage capacities and, when filled, are chained onto the previously filled block, forming a chain of data known as the “blockchain.” All new information that follows that freshly added block is compiled into a newly formed block that will then also be added to the chain once filled.

A database structures its data into tables whereas a blockchain, like its name implies, structures its data into chunks (blocks) that are chained together. This makes it so that all blockchains are databases but not all databases are blockchains. This system also inherently makes an irreversible timeline of data when implemented in a decentralized nature. When a block is filled it is set in stone and becomes a part of this timeline. Each block in the chain is given an exact timestamp when it is added to the chain.  SOURCE:  Investopedia

Internet of Things

What is the Internet of Things?
The Internet of Things, or IoT, refers to the billions of physical devices around the world that are now connected to the internet, all collecting and sharing data. Thanks to the arrival of super-cheap computer chips and the ubiquity of wireless networks, it's possible to turn anything, from something as small as a pill to something as big as an aeroplane, into a part of the IoT. Connecting up all these different objects and adding sensors to them adds a level of digital intelligence to devices that would be otherwise dumb, enabling them to communicate real-time data without involving a human being. The Internet of Things is making the fabric of the world around us more smarter and more responsive, merging the digital and physical universes.

EXAMPLES:
Any physical object can be transformed into an IoT device if it can be connected to the internet to be controlled or communicate information.

A lightbulb that can be switched on using a smartphone app is an IoT device, as is a motion sensor or a smart thermostat in your office or a connected streetlight. An IoT device could be as fluffy as a child's toy or as serious as a driverless truck. Some larger objects may themselves be filled with many smaller IoT components, such as a jet engine that's now filled with thousands of sensors collecting and transmitting data back to make sure it is operating efficiently. At an even bigger scale, smart cities projects are filling entire regions with sensors to help us understand and control the environment.  SOURCE:  ZDNet.com

It is entirely possible and highly likely that our interstate highways will become SMART so that whether we are driving in our electric car or in our gasoline powered vehicles, technology embedded in the surface of the road will be able to detect our SPEED.

Once our speed has been detected and if it is above the legal posted limited, then fine will be automatically sent to our address and/or our email address.  After a few fines have been collected, the State through the local government will suspend or revoke our license.

There will no longer be any need for highway patrol cars to monitor our speed and issue citations...

Illegal Immigration

FOX NEWS reported today and I doubt that the same news was reported by CNN, CBS, MSNBC, or ABC that 6% of the illegal immigrants crossing the border and being put on buses in Brownsville, TX had tested positive for COVID....  and, nothing was done (like in quarantining) to prevent them from going to a variety of States to seek work, one of which was North Carolina...  and, while I know the new administration means well...  these infected immigrants might be carrying a variation of the COVID Virus not yet experienced here in the USA...

Earlier this week, FOX NEWS reported that Illegal Immigrant children were receiving classroom instruction while they were being detained in the same condition in which they were being detained during the previous administration...  but, more importantly why are illegal immigrant children receiving  in class instruction, when our own citizens are receiving online education because of COVID restrictions in some States...

I am all in favor of LEGAL IMMIGRATION...  in fact, one of the reasons why America is as great as it currently is was because Europeans with TECHNICAL SKILLS legally immigrated to the USA...  They were the steel works, tool and die artisans, carpenters, stone masons, etc...  without them our greatness would have arrived so soon.

BUT...  they were legal immigrants and wanted NO HANDOUTS from the government...  they just wanted a fair opportunity to make something of themselves.

What do you think ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS want?

Data Science

Data science is an inter-disciplinary field that uses scientific methods, processes, algorithms and systems to extract knowledge and insights from many structural and unstructured data.  Data science is related to data mining, machine learning and big data.

Data science is a "concept to unify statistics, data analysis and their related methods" in order to "understand and analyze actual phenomena" with data. It uses techniques and theories drawn from many fields within the context of mathematics, statistics, computer science, domain knowledge and information science. Turing award winner Jim Gray imagined data science as a "fourth paradigm" of science (empirical, theoretical, computational and now data-driven) and asserted that "everything about science is changing because of the impact of information technology" and the data deluge.

Many statisticians, including Nate Silver, have argued that data science is not a new field, but rather another name for statistics.  Others argue that data science is distinct from statistics because it focuses on problems and techniques unique to digital data.  Vasant Dhar writes that statistics emphasizes quantitative data and description. In contrast, data science deals with quantitative and qualitative data (e.g. images) and emphasizes prediction and action.

Andrew Gelman of Columbia University and data scientist Vincent Granville have described statistics as a nonessential part of data science.  Stanford professor David Donoho writes that data science is not distinguished from statistics by the size of datasets or use of computing, and that many graduate programs misleadingly advertise their analytics and statistics training as the essence of a data science program. He describes data science as an applied field growing out of traditional statistics.

In summary, data science can be therefore described as an applied branch of statistics.  SOURCE:  Wikipedia

Personally, I find it fascinating when several Ph D's are arguing and the only way to decide which one is correct is to look at the date in which the degree was awarded and see who got their doctorate first...

Artificial Intelligence

“Everything we love about civilization is a product of intelligence, so amplifying our human intelligence with artificial intelligence has the potential of helping civilization flourish like never before – as long as we manage to keep the technology beneficial.“
Max Tegmark, President of the Future of Life Institute

WHAT IS AI?
From SIRI to self-driving cars, artificial intelligence (AI) is progressing rapidly. While science fiction often portrays AI as robots with human-like characteristics, AI can encompass anything from Google’s search algorithms to IBM’s Watson to autonomous weapons.

Artificial intelligence today is properly known as narrow AI (or weak AI), in that it is designed to perform a narrow task (e.g. only facial recognition or only internet searches or only driving a car). However, the long-term goal of many researchers is to create general AI (AGI or strong AI). While narrow AI may outperform humans at whatever its specific task is, like playing chess or solving equations, AGI would outperform humans at nearly every cognitive task.

HOW CAN AI BE DANGEROUS?
Most researchers agree that a superintelligent AI is unlikely to exhibit human emotions like love or hate, and that there is no reason to expect AI to become intentionally benevolent or malevolent. Instead, when considering how AI might become a risk, experts think two scenarios most likely:
  • The AI is programmed to do something devastating: Autonomous weapons are artificial intelligence systems that are programmed to kill. In the hands of the wrong person, these weapons could easily cause mass casualties. Moreover, an AI arms race could inadvertently lead to an AI war that also results in mass casualties. To avoid being thwarted by the enemy, these weapons would be designed to be extremely difficult to simply “turn off,” so humans could plausibly lose control of such a situation. This risk is one that’s present even with narrow AI, but grows as levels of AI intelligence and autonomy increase.
  • The AI is programmed to do something beneficial, but it develops a destructive method for achieving its goal: This can happen whenever we fail to fully align the AI’s goals with ours, which is strikingly difficult. If you ask an obedient intelligent car to take you to the airport as fast as possible, it might get you there chased by helicopters and covered in vomit, doing not what you wanted but literally what you asked for. If a superintelligent system is tasked with a ambitious geoengineering project, it might wreak havoc with our ecosystem as a side effect, and view human attempts to stop it as a threat to be met.
As these examples illustrate, the concern about advanced AI isn’t malevolence but competence. A super-intelligent AI will be extremely good at accomplishing its goals, and if those goals aren’t aligned with ours, we have a problem. You’re probably not an evil ant-hater who steps on ants out of malice, but if you’re in charge of a hydroelectric green energy project and there’s an anthill in the region to be flooded, too bad for the ants. A key goal of AI safety research is to never place humanity in the position of those ants.  TO READ ENTIRE ARTICLE, Click Here...

Perspective

This morning I was relaxing in my hot tub when a single engine airplane past overhead and it was only a second or two that I was able to gaze upward at its flight path before it had passed out of my line of vision and sight.  And, this got me to thinking...

As an airplane flies by us in the sky and we trace its movements with our eyes, the airplane seems to passing us by quickly from our fixed position on the ground.

Whereas, if we were in that airplane and looking at our fixed position on the ground, it would appear that we would be passing that fixed position rather slowly.

And, if you have never been in an airplane sitting at a window seat, you would have never noticed this phenomenon but I have.

It is also interesting to note here that astronauts who spend time in space age less than their counterparts on the ground...  and, this has been proven by the growth of male beards when we were very first exploring space and were only making a few orbits around the earth.

Using this knowledge, we can extrapolate that the farther we move out into space relative to earth, the slower that time moves, even though for those out in space time seems to be moving at the same speed.

An illustration of this is a bicycle wheel (see below)...

If we imagine that the inner spoke to be indicative of earth, then it is easier to imagine that it makes more revolutions than the actual tire makes...  we can estimate this ratio to be just about anything that we want it to be...  for example, every time the outside tire makes one complete revolution, the inside spoke makes 20, 25, or even 30 revolutions...

And if, we said each revolution of the the inner spoke represented 10 years of earth time, then 200 years on earth would have to pass would have to pass before 1 year of time had passed for the tire...  even though time was passing at the same speed for both the inner spoke and the outer tire...

This concept (proven to the true by science) is based upon Einstein's Theory of Relativity...  only he used a train passing by a station as his example instead of an airplane.

Einstein's Theory of Relativity works extremely well with RELIGION also....   in that, if God was at the edge of the universe, a day to HIM could have been 100,000,000 years (or more) relative to earth's passing of time.
